Mr. Bejcek was a tough boss, but he had a hearty laugh that you would hear through the store.
I worked hard and learned a lot watching from behind the counter. It was a safe place for a shy, bookish girl to start out.
In my senior year, the two local pharmacies merged. We moved down the street. It wasn't the same. The era was soon over as the national chains came sweeping in.
